Hi.

Welcome to TravelGage! You can find information on my favorite places to travel and eat and get insider knowledge from friends around the World!

I never leave home without...

I always get asked about packing because I travel very lightly. I don’t check a bag unless I absolutely have to and am proud to say I once traveled for 3 weeks with an International carry on!

Anyways, these are the 5 items, I never leave home without.

  1. My Away suitcase.

I heard about these a few years ago, and while they are now everywhere, I still swear by them. I had never had a hard suitcase before and worried about the flexibility of them, but they are very durable and do have a little bit of stretch that allows for squeezing that last item in. I even bought their packing cubes, which are great and fit well inside. They now make a ton of fun colors, but I still like my original navy blue. I also have the International carry-on, which is a little smaller than the regular carry-on, but still plenty roomy.

  2. A comfortable pair of sneakers.

Sneakers have evolved a lot over the last few years and are so much nicer than the beat up pair of Adidas everyone used to have. I love my Tretorn sneakers to wear on the plane because they keep my feet warm and are comfortable for exploring wherever my travels take me. I also love m.gemi, they make great and comfortable sneakers. (I should point out m.gemi and Tretorn make shoes for men and women!)

  3. A book.

The way I read books has changed and now I’m definitely more of a kindle fanatic than a physical book reader. That is mostly because I’m usually in between books and when I travel, I want to be able to have something else to read if I finish a book. Lugging multiple books around takes up valuable space in my already small suitcase!

  4. A portable charger.

I found this one from Chargii and it was a game changer. The fact that the cords are built in and you can charge it in an outlet, makes everything so much easier. Make sure you have an power adapter if you’re traveling Internationally as well!

  5. A scarf.

Depending on the time of year, I bring either a blanket scarf that I can use to wrap myself up on the plane and in the evenings when it’s chilly, or a light weight scarf that does the same things, just isn’t as bulky for summer travels.

Hopefully this helps get you started for your next vacation! Email me at travelgage10@gmail.com for more Chekamendations, packing tricks and help planning your next adventure!
